Sweet White and Deadly (Third Heist)

The Florida sugar industry has enslaved foreign workers on secret sugar plantations. The sugar from the plantations is collected at junk yards and distributed to final purchasers. Then the money is brought to a central place, a government office, before being distributed as bribes. The SRF every week bribes government officials in Florida to look the other way, allowing them to continue their operations.

Treat the Sugar Research Fund like a drug cartel, they have their fingers in every pie, and take their cut. They have bought or threaten the local politicians into subservience. They own the State Patrol, or at least enough of them. They distribute propaganda through soda and food bottlers and producers that sugar is just another calorie. They are willing to lie, cheat, or steal to maintain their lucrative world wide network.

It’s not surprising that the Sugar Research Fund has ties with food groups that are trying to distribute illegal Avocados as fair trade. They even have Majestic Cola under their thumb due to the huge amounts of sugar they need to make their soft drinks. So it won’t be surprising to have reprise of Ace or other characters from the Green Gold, and Mountain Springs Missions. Ace may recognize the characters and he’s going to want revenge because it taken him a lot of work to rebuild his reputation and place within the organization. He’ll try to restore his rep as a driver by finally beating the characters.

The Pitch

Meet up with some escape workers and figure out the sugar and money shipment schedule. Then Follow the delivery men in their NASCAR like vehicles and figure out where the money gets accumulated. Finally steal that cash before it gets distributed to the Floridian politicians.

The SRF has infiltrated the Florida State Patrol, and can bring extra-judicial force to bear on any challenge. They also have a cuban gangs at their disposal, they are equipped with American muscles cars that have be jury-rigged with an assortment of cool modifications.

Challenge

• Where is the money stored?
• How will you get the stored money, out of highly secured government building?
• Sugar Research Fund is essentially an organized crime group, They have resource they can bring to bear on the characters if they discover what’s going on.
• How do you get pass the police, who are complicit in the sugar operation.

Twist

• One of their drivers is also attempting to steal the money
• Sugar Research fund will bring in some rivals drivers that know the players to act against the team if they are discovered.
• Ace may recognize the player and throw a wrench into their plans.

Resolution

If they are able capture the large cache of money give them 20 resource, other wise give them 5 resources, and a lot of heat. Ralph Shipton will take it as a personal a front that the character stole his money.

NPCS

Murdock A retired NASCAR Driver because the confederate flag was removed. He drives Burgundy Nissan Altima. He’s souther boy full of southern pride.

BA Liverstien Drive a Ford SHO Black, he is the back up driver. A POC, who is also a state patrol officer. He prides him self on his driving abilities.

Rob A Forman at one of the sugar cane work companies. He can sympathies with the players attempt to rob them blind cause he do the same if he thought he could get away with it. Other wise he runs the camp with an iron fist and show little mercy to his workers, but he know healthy works do more work.

Candace Liverstien BA’s wife, and a Florida State Patrol Officer. She knows where in the precinct the money is hidden, before it picked by an armored car for deliver to pay off the politicians.

Ace The Same from the Green Gold Episode is here. He’s now working for the Sugar Research Fund, and is keeping tabs on the Murdock who he suspects of skimming. He now has a large Menards tattooed across his chest. Ace’s wife OD on Majestic Cola energy drink and all his babies are in protective services and with his mother in-law. So he working for the SRF to make enough money to convince her that he’s responsible.

Johansen A worker at the camps, he’s a Forman but he speaks for the workers, but enjoys the little extra privileges

Karolay One of escaped workers, he will provide the information about where the camps are, and Murdock pickup schedule from the junk yard.

Isai The other escaped worker, he will be willing to accompany the players, but other wise he doesn’t talk much

Yoselin A female worker who has also escaped, she is scared of the players. But can attest to the bad conditions at the work camps if a player can gain her trust.

Dr. Oz He’s a retired professor, who lives on a house boat in the keys. He’s the one, that is hiding the workers that escaped in run down motel owned by his brother’s family.

Father Vincent a young priest looking to make a name for himself, he’s in charge of the parish of the Scared Blood Mission church.

Skunk-ape A big foot like monsters that can be found in the everglades. They are elusive and will avoid capture at all cost. They may provide mysterious aid to the players if they are going to get the camp shut down and out of their everglades.

Bobby Le’Crue Police union representative, with creole accent.

Ralph Shipton US Senator Florida (R) The players may have made an enemy.

Locations

Worker Camps Hidden in the Everglades are several illegal sugar plantations, that keep illegal immigrant worker in terrible conditions.

Tony’s Junk on of several sugar distribution centers disguised as junk yard. This one happens to be right across the street from the gator ranch.

West Miami State patrol offices is a sprawling single story building, with a large gated parking lot. The main entrance is watched by the main service desk. The money is stored in a room next to the evidence locker, in a large safe. The safe is connected to an external wall.

Swamp/Everglades The vast Florida Everglades, without air support or a local guide good luck finding anything. Hidden in this vast swamp are illegal sugar plantations.

Key West Where the worker that escaped the plantations, are hiding and hoping to find a way to get to Puerto Rico where they hope to be able to fade into the grey markets.

Sacred Blood Mission Church A small mission style Catholic Church that is willing to provide shelter to the escaped workers.

The Gator Ranch An gator ranch with tours, and exciting shows and foods. They rent air boats.

The Palm Motel A run down dirt motel, where the escaped workers are staying, in key west.

Florida International University It a large university campus near the state patrol office.

Oz’s House Boat Dr. Oz’s home, it’s a rundown house boat, at the docks in Key West. It filled with memorabilia and books that have not faired well in the humid environment.

Green Machine Yacht The Green Machine corporate yacht is in the Miami bay, but will refuse to be part of anything that can not be denied.

Adventure Spine

Intro Chris gives them the lowdown, and reminds them they were lucky not to draw the attention of the feds. Also the Sugar Research Fund is much more than the lobby arm of the sugar industry they buy and own politicians, either with cash or blackmail. It’s time to throw a hiccup into their operation, and give the players a payday.

Arrive in Key West Give them a moment to race each other down the long bridge into Key west, to reduce sadness or harm they may of accumulated in the last several heists.

Dr Oz Meet up with their initial contact doctor Oz. He will guide them to the Palm Motel and introduce them to Isai and Karolay. He may be caution and worry that you may be infiltrated by government agents, he had a weather unground experience when he was a professor and may be leery.

Isai and Karolay will tell them how to find the sugar plantations and Tony’s Junk Yard and the money pickup schedule.

Stake out The players need to stake out Tony’s Junk Yard, so they can follow Murdock. Maybe introduce the gator ranch, and let them explore the everglades on fan boats. The locals may tell them to be weary of the Skunk-apes.

The Chase Murdock will pick up the cash from Tony’s and head back to the drop off point. Follow him or track him in some way. If he suspects something he will call in BA Liverstien to run interference. (5 segments to follow)

The Drop off Murdock drops off the cash to BA’s wife Candace that works at the West Miami State Patrol office. She takes it to a room right next to the evidence room, which has a large safe in which she places the money. The returns to front desk duty. The parking lot is gated and guarded.

Infiltrate the Station The players may want to infiltrate the station, make it challenging, but not impossible.

Crack the safe option 1 Have a chase scene of 7 segments, The cops will also have a 4 segment track if the cops complete the track, the players will either have to lose the safe or be captured.

Hijack Armored Car option 2 The cash will be picked up from the police station by an Armored before it is delivered to the local politicians. Hijack or rob the armored car.

Cool Down Escape to the Green Machine Yacht in the Miami Bay. Surprise support by the legitimate branch, they will provide some cover and a way to get out of Miami with the cash. The players just have to board the ship under cover. Marry will be there and may mention her and Francis good Friend Luna Ortiz. The yacht may also be used to transport the escaped workers to safer harbors.
