Flashbacks in Detail
The flashback moves are used to either further establish details about your character or to provide assistance when all looks lost, showing how they planned for this very problem. Use these moves to get started with the heist without spending sessions on planning. Your characters know how to plan for all contingencies, but the players are not expected to have the same skill.
The Establishment moves You got Talent and Who am I can be used to enrich your character’s backstory and histories. They are handy during the heist to provide a little boost to your character as it establishes why they are the right crew member for the job. These moves can also be used as the characters are planning the heist, to setup who’s going todo each job, and why.
The Planning moves Check out my Mods and Best Laid Plans can be used when your character would have planned ahead for a given situation. They provide assets or assistance when the time is right. These moves are meant to be used during the heist to show how skilled or prepared the characters are. Having just the right mod for the situation, or having the right assistance ready to go. The following situation are a good time to use Best Laid Plans move:
Your character has been chased to the edge of a cliff where he Is corned, and all looks lost. That angry buster has started his monolog, things are really looking bad. The Brain is asking how you’re going to get out of this one. It’s time for a flashback, your character would have planed for this contingency. A flashback can be used to have the Hot Head arrive in a helicopter raising up from bellow, whisking you away as you wave a happy good bye.
Your character got into a bit of trouble his heat is a 5 and the cops are on his trail. The whole heist might be in jeopardy. He suddenly has a flashback remembering his good friend stashes his car near by, he won’t mind right.
